MOUNT VERNON — A Mount Vernon man remains in the Knox County Jail awaiting a continued bond hearing now scheduled for Wednesday.

On Dec. 3, Detective Dave McElroy was patrolling the west side of Mount Vernon and observed a suspicious vehicle with an out-of-state registration displayed. The vehicle had two people inside.

After observing the occupants’ activity inside the vehicle, McElroy made contact with the occupants and determined that it was occupied by a juvenile and 35-year-old Larence W. Criswell II.

After an investigation by the Mount Vernon Police Department, Criswell was charged with misdemeanor assault and felony gross sexual imposition.

Monday’s scheduled bond hearing was continued until Wednesday as the Knox County Public Defender’s Office was appointed as interim counsel pending eligibility verification.
