No injuries in accident

Betty Wertz, 82, Mount Vernon, was not injured when her car slammed into this driveway retaining wall Wednesday at 4:14 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said she was eastbound on Ohio 229, just east of Mount Vernon, when she lost control of her car. She was charged with failure to maintain reasonable control.  (Virgil Shipley)

EK Lions donate to Parish

The East Knox Lions Club recently put some of their fundraising money to good use. A $500 check was presented Monday to the Winter Sanctuary program at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church to help aid in the church’s homeless shelter program. The Winter Sanctuary has been open since Nov. 8 and houses women and children at the Parish House and men in the church basement on an emergency basis.
