  • Today last day for MV Family Dollar store

  • December 24, 2010 9:55 am EST

MOUNT VERNON — Today will be the last day of business for the Family Dollar Store at 1401 Coshocton Ave.

The closing had not been advertised and there was little information available other than the closing date. It is unclear whether the closing has anything to do with the recent opening of a Family Dollar store in Danville. There is also a store in Loudonville.

“I don’t really know anything about why we are closing,” said Mount Vernon store manager Diane Colopy. “They just called us and said today (Dec. 24) would be the last day we would be open. We didn’t really advertise our closing but a lot of people figured it out because the shelves are pretty bare right now.”

Colopy said the company has found other positions for the Mount Vernon staff.

“The company is taking care of us,” she said.
