MOUNT VERNON — Terry Scott, auditor for the city of Mount Vernon, received the Making Your Tax Dollars Count Award from the Auditor of State’s Office during Monday’s Mount Vernon City Council meeting.
Less than 5 percent of all government entities are eligible for this award, Rob Pike, representing state auditor Mary Taylor, told council prior to presenting the award to Scott.
Eligibility criteria include submission of a Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, no findings or issues in the audit report and no financial concerns involving the entity.
Scott said this was the 16th consecutive honor presented to the city based on reports prepared by his office.
