MOUNT VERNON — The Mount Vernon Police Department continues to investigate an attempted armed robbery that occurred in downtown Mount Vernon on Dec. 9, 2010.

Two victims reported that a male subject in a full mask and dark hoodie asked for their money while showing them a gun around 8 in the evening.

After putting the gun back in his pocket and apologizing, he informed the victims that he was homeless. They, in turn, suggested he visit the nearby homeless shelter.

Officers with the MVPD questioned several possible subjects that night but concluded none of them were involved in the situation.

MVPD Captain George Hartz told the News today the department continues to investigate, however, there are currently no suspects.
