BATEMANTOWN — Failure to stop at a stop sign resulted in the collision of two vehicles and a broken utility pole.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Charles Goodman, 86, Mount Gilead, was eastbound on Yankee Street when he ran through the stop sign at Waterford Road.

He crashed into a truck driven by Michael Monk, 43, Galion. The vehicles ran off the road into the northwest corner of the intersection hitting and breaking a power pole.

Members of the Fredericktown Community Fire District stood directing one-way traffic until the vehicles were removed and the pole replaced.

Goodman was charged with failure to yield at a stop sign.
