MOUNT VERNON — Seven indictments were handed down by a Knox County grand jury on Monday.
According to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher, Larence W. Criswell II, Mount Vernon, is accused of rape and gross sexual imposition. Criswell allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 on Dec. 3. Thatcher said Criswell is being held in the Knox County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Detective David McElroy, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Harold E. Taylor Jr., 46, Mount Vernon, was indicted on gross sexual imposition and importuning charges. Thatcher said Taylor allegedly solicited a child under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity with him and then had sexual contact with the child on Nov. 1. Detective Sgt. Roger Brown, Knox County Sheriff’s Office, investigated the case.
On Dec. 13, Mount Vernon police detectives, assisted by Licking County Adult Probation Officers, allegedly found over 65 grams of methamphetamine in a Follin Avenue apartment during a probationer house check. Mark A. McElfresh, 34, St. Louisville, is accused of aggravated trafficking in drugs and Heidi M. Clark, 28, Mount Vernon, faces an aggravated possession of drugs charge out of the incident. Detective Sgt. Jeff Jacobs and McElroy handled the investigation.
According to the indictment, Jerry D. Frazee, 52, Mount Vernon, was previously convicted of trafficking in marijuana and cannot legally possess a firearm. Thatcher said on Nov. 24, Frazee allegedly possessed a .45 caliber handgun and fired it while in his motor vehicle on Camp Road, north of New Delaware Road. Sgt. Tom Durbin, KCSO, reported the alleged incident occurred during a dispute Frazee had with another individual about trespassing while hunting.
On Oct. 29, Connell W. Frazee, 25, Mount Vernon, allegedly changed the amount on a check from $3.70 to $63.70. Frazee is accused of forgery. Brown investigated the case.
Arraignments are scheduled for Jan. 21, before Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster.
