HOWARD — Reorganizing for 2011, the East Knox school board on Monday chose Renee McDaniel to serve as president.

It also voted Craig Campbell in as vice president and elected Larry Campbell to serve as the Knox County Career Center observer. The board approved routine annual actions, and set the dates, times and locations for its regular meetings for the year. Regular school board meetings in 2011, with exceptions, will be held on the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the East Knox Middle School. Exceptions are: May 11 at East Knox Elementary School in Bladensburg, June 22 in the board office, July 13 in the board office, Aug. 10 in the board office and Sept. 14 at the elementary school.

The regular portion of the meeting began with a presentation by Kenyon/Gambier community member Liz Keeney. She said Gambier community members, as well as Kenyon faculty and students, wanted to do something for the East Knox school family, especially the middle school, and therefore solicited donations.

“We were stunned by the response,” said Keeney. “We collected, and present to the middle school, $1,112.05 for supplemental materials to help both kids and teachers.”
