MOUNT VERNON — The search for a new Knox County Dog Warden ended Friday when the Knox County Commissioners named Jim R. St. Clair of Martinsburg as their choice to fill the vacant position. St. Clair officially takes over Tuesday, replacing Roger Reed, who resigned his position to step into the role of county commissioner.
A graduate of Johnstown High School, St. Clair, 48, has worked as an animal control officer at Knox County Dog Pound/Animal Control since July 2010. He previously was employed at Small’s Sand and Gravel and Croton Hardware and was Martinsburg Village Mayor from 2003 to 2010.
“I love the opportunity ... I love working with animals,” said St. Clair. “My goal is to take care of as many dogs as we can. Our euthanasia rate is extremely low, and I want to keep it going that way. I want to continue Roger’s (Reed) work with rescues.”
