  • More than 750 Community Concert members braved frigid temperatures Saturday evening and were rewarded with a virtuoso performance in the Memorial Theater by Quartetto Gelato of Toronto, Ontario. Cellist Liza McLellan, violinist Peter DeSotto and oboist Colin Maier, above, combined with four-time world accordian champion Alexander Sevastian (not pictured) for a program that was richly varied and thoroughly entertaining. Next in the Community Concert series is a bonus concert featuring Vaughn Wiester’s Famous Jazz Orchestra, Sunday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. in the Memorial Theater. The benefit concert, staged in conjuction with the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon & Knox County, is free and open to the public on a first-come, first-serve basis. Contributions will be invited during the concert for a new Community Foundation music scholarship named in honor of Wiester, a Mount Vernon native.
