MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Commissioners met Monday morning with Knox County Common Pleas Court Clerk Mary Jo Hawkins to hear her year-end report for 2010.

In the legal department, a record number of criminal cases, 211, and civil cases, 794, were reported last year as were foreclosures, 363, and tax foreclosures, 140. Domestic relations cases saw its lowest number since 2004 at 253, and total cases for the year totaled 1,406, down from 1,435 in 2009. Total fees collected came to $221,983.83.

“We had two less full-time employees [in 2010]. It’s good to see we can cut back and still maintain the same level of customer service,” said Hawkins. “We do have strong employees. The staff is great ... everything’s working.”
