UTICA — The North Fork School Board of Education on Monday spent an extended amount of time in executive session to discuss contract negotitiaons and other personnel matters related to a fiscal recovery plan required by the Ohio Department of Education.

The financial recovery plan is mandated by the Ohio Revised Code because, due to its financial situation, the district has been placed in what is known as fiscal watch by the Auditor of State. That means North Fork has an operating deficit for the current fiscal year which exceeds 8 percent of the school district’s general fund revenue, and the voters have not approved a levy that would raise enough money in the next fiscal year to eliminate the deficit. The financial recovery plan outlines ways the district plans to eliminate the current deficit and avoid future deficits.
