MOUNT VERNON — A tractor-trailer on Sunday afternoon got stuck in the city while attempting to turn right on to Edgewood Road from New Gambier Road.

While trying to maneuver through the two-lane road, the semi-trailer driver, Jennie Johnson, 34, Knoxville, Tenn., struck a Toyota Camry driven by Thomas Steury, 67, of Mount Vernon, who was also attempting to turn right onto the same road. Johnson also struck a mailbox at 998 New Gambier Road.

No one was reported injured in the accident, though some damage was sustained to the left side of the Toyota. Johnson was cited for driving oversized/weighted vehicle on local streets. Steury was cited for failing to signal before changing course.
