MOUNT VERNON — Expansion is on the horizon for PACS Industries of Mount Vernon after the purchase of a new facility was completed on Jan. 18. Bruce Dalis, president and chief operating officer of PACS Industries, has announced the Mount Vernon business will soon be moving from 10 Pittsburgh Ave. to 8405 Blackjack Road after 30 years in its present location. The acquisition of the former TRW facility will give PACS more operating space and the opportunity for growth. The purchase of this building was completed through Brett Morgan Holdings LLC at a cost of $2,450,000.

“It’s a fantastic growth opportunity,” said Dalis. “This is a more modern facility, and we’ll have more workable space to operate in.”

Dalis explained how PACS’ currently facility is 150,000 square feet, broken up into separate rooms. The new facility will be 206,000 square feet in one big room.

The Mount Vernon PACS Industries plant is a manufacturer of metal clad switchgear. Dalis describes this as kind of a huge circuit breaker. As most homes have a circuit breaker of 120 volts, these industrial-sized circuit breakers are 5,000, 15,000 or 38,000 volts and are needed in all large industries. “It’s a great industry ... it’s an established industry,” said Dalis.
