Record amount raised at radio auction
The telephone lines hummed throughout the five-hour Ohio Junior Miss Radio Auction on Saturday in the basement of First-Knox National Bank. Those taking the calls, seated in the foreground, wrote the bids that were hung on the boards in the background where they could keep track of the auction. Standing at left, Doug Clark and Jeff Butcher, hung the bid slips on the boards. The auction raised a record $11,246 that will all go for scholarships for the high school senior girls who participate in OJM. The program will take on its new name in 2012 — Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Leadership Talent. (Virgil Shipley)
