MOUNT VERNON — Area residents who may be building a garage or have a need for a new garage door now have a local dealer to help them meet their needs.
Lloyd Eby is the owner/operator of Sunrise Garage Doors at 13813 Crooked St., Mount Vernon. Eby moved to Mount Vernon in July 2010 and began his business in December of installing and servicing residential and commercial garage doors. He can also perform weather sealing and door framing if needed.
Eby grew up in Franklin County, Pa., and later got into the business of garage doors while living in Tennessee and working with a cousin for seven years. He attended training at the Wayne-Dalton Corp. to help him on the road to owning his own business.
Sunrise Garage Doors can offer standard residential doors and carriage house-type doors in all shapes and sizes.
Eby carries a wide line of garage doors from Doorlink Manufacturing Inc. and the Haas Door Co. Chain or belt driven doors are available and in AC or DC options.
“I would eventually like to be able to offer keyed-entry gate systems,” said Eby, who admitted he saw more of these in Tennessee than in Ohio, with a lot of the business coming from retirees.
“Quality is our goal,” said Eby, who stated he can offer 24-hour service. Currently working out of his home, Eby admitted he would eventually like to open a separate storefront. “Business is picking up; I’ve been getting service calls,” he said, as the business just passed its first month of operation.
Wanting to possibly keep the business in the family, Eby has some help from his son, Phillip. “He’s my second hand,” said Eby.
