MOUNT VERNON — A large class of residents seeking Mount Vernon city government positions have filed their petitions with the Knox County Board of Elections.

Those wishing to run for office had until 4 p.m. Wednesday to file their petitions with the Knox County Board of Elections. The board will then meet on Feb. 14, to certify and validate the petitions.

According to Kim Horn, director at the Knox County Board of Elections, the following candidates will not be listed on the primary ballot because they are all running unopposed with their respective party. Voting for these positions will take place in the November election.
