MOUNT VERNON — Rebecca L. Jordan, Democratic two-term councilwoman, has filed her petition as a candidate for her third term for Mount Vernon City Council at large seat.

As a two-term council member, Jordan has worked hard to serve the people of Mount Vernon. She serves as head chair of the Fire/Police/Civil Defense Committee, ranking chair of Planning/Zoning, head chair of the Transportation Committee through the Regional Planning Commission, and is a member of the Streets/Public Buildings and Employee & Community Relations committees.

“My reason to run again for this seat is sparked by a desire to serve the people of Mount Vernon and take an active role in solving our problems,” said Jordan. “The taxpayers deserve stable and reliable representation. I will continue in my efforts to make Mount Vernon a place where people can be proud to raise a family and feel a part of this wonderful community.”

Jordan lives at 602 E. Chestnut St. with her husband, Scott, and two children, Alex and Elise. She is an insurance agent with Associated Insurance Agencies Inc. and holds a CPIA and CISR professional certification. She is also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Mount Vernon and is vice president of the Mount Vernon Soccer Association.
