MOUNT VERNON — Holli Kendall has announced her candidacy for the 2nd Ward seat on Mount Vernon City Council. A first-time candidate, Kendall hopes to bring new energy and ideas to City Council.

“I would be honored by the opportunity to represent the concerns of the 2nd Ward on City Council,” she said. Kendall plans to focus on promoting community cohesion and smart development.

“My desire is to serve the needs of the community, with an emphasis on supporting local businesses and retaining jobs,” Kendall said. “Additionally, I’d like to continue Chuck Dice’s tradition of caring for the public parks as well as other common goods, such as waterways and the historical elements that speak to Mount Vernon’s rich past.”

Kendall earned a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science and a Master of Science in Rural Sociology from The Ohio State University. She is a member of the Gamma Delta Sigma Honor Society of Agriculture. Her studies have focused on food, agricultural change, and rural development.

Kendall currently teaches at The Ohio State University-Newark. She has taught at Otterbein College, and previously worked as part of the OSU-Social Responsibility Initiative. Having been part of several large-scale studies, Kendall is well versed in survey research, social impact assessment, and data analysis. She is also a freelance artist and has worked in customer service and management.

Over the summer Kendall spent a week helping to rebuild homes on the Gulf Coast. Locally, she has participated in community theater with Orange Barrel Productions and Right Brain Productions, and recently become a volunteer with the Woodward Opera House.
