FREDERICKTOWN — “You are all champions,” said John Jurkowitz, pronouncer and coordinator, Tuesday night during the 51st Annual Knox County Spelling Bee, held at Fredericktown Elementary School.
The event hosted 14 students from Centerburg, Danville, Fredericktown and Mount Vernon school districts, grades five through eight.
Present at the competition were Sam Mader, LeighAnn Vargo, Derek Urban and Megan Ryan of Centerburg Middle School; Garret Hughes, Kyla Brayshaw, Andrew Bullock and Ronnie McCain of Danville Middle School; Noah Williams, Neal Gould, Emma Hoeflich and Ramey Turner of Fredericktown Middle School; and Teddy Reed and Toby Baumann of Mount Vernon Middle School. Not present, but representative of the seventh grade at Mount Vernon Middle School, was Luke Roberts.
