Ohio State Highway Patrol Trooper Todd Carpenter measured off distance as he investigates this crash on Ohio 13, just north of the Fredericktown bypass, on Wednesday at 12:40 p.m. Carpenter said Darlene Smith, 57, Fredericktown, driving the car in the background, was making a left turn when it was hit in the driver’s door by Ryan Robinson, 18, Zanesville. Carpenter said Smith was fortunate some of the impact was taken by the door frame. She was taken to Knox Community Hospital for treatment by the Fredericktown Community Volunteer Fire Department squad, where she was treated and released. Carpenter added Robinson was going too fast to stop. He was charged with assured clear distance ahead.
