MOUNT VERNON — Pat Crow, director of the Knox County Convention & Visitors Bureau, met with the Knox County Commissioners Thursday morning to report on the visitor’s bureau budget for 2010.

Crow discussed the 2010 budget and the projected budget for 2011 along with the county lodging tax expectations for 2011, KnoxWays plans and the CVB web site.

“There were no real surprises with the 2010 budget,” Crow said. “We anticipated a bed tax of $120,000 and we collected $121,181.70.”

With interest, products income and web site and Internet services the total income for 2010 was $128,267.85. The CVB had a carry-over from 2009 of $48,674.46 to give it a total balance of $174,074.46. Crow said expenses which include normal office expenses, payroll and marketing came to $125,267.85. This gave a projected balance of the aforementioned $48,674.46.

The projected budget for 2011 for the CVB is $121,000.

Crow told the commissioners the KnoxWays campaign was very successful in 2010.

“For KnoxWays we have two web sites,” Crow explained. “We have our visitknoxohio.org which we have had for many years and as part of this program we have developed knoxways.info which has the same information but is part of our branding for the project. We believe this project accounts for about 1,600 jobs.”
