DANVILLE — As the weather starts to slowly warm up, Danville Village Council members turned their attention to spring and festivities in the village.

Regis and Katrina Fowler attended the council meeting Monday, discussing with members of council ideas for improving the Danville-Howard Turkey Festival. The Fowlers are part of the turkey festival committee, which coordinates the June festival at the village park.

They shared with council members some of their ideas and elicited thoughts from the members on what can be done and who might be available around the community to help.

“Our intent is to find a way to celebrate the festival as a community,” said Regis Fowler. “We’d like to grow this as a community event.”

The committee is looking for businesses or organizations that are willing to take over sections of the festival. Last year, First-Knox National Bank helped out with one of the events, and the committee is hoping others will step up this year.

“Our goal is to put things down at the park that draw people to Danville. We’d like to see it grow to the point where all of Danville will benefit,” said Katrina Fowler.

Council members tossed out ideas of other clubs, as well as the Eastern Knox County Business Association, which might be able to chip in.

Any groups or individuals who would like to help are encouraged to contact Katrina Fowler at 504-9782.
