MOUNT VERNON — A former Highland High School teacher and girls basketball coach was awarded a renewal of his teaching and coaching licenses by the Ohio Department of Education after the two licenses expired while he was placed on a paid administrative leave by the district in 2008.

The Morrow County Sheriff’s Office investigated allegations of inappropriate conduct by Jeff Maibach. No charges were filed.

Tim Hilborn, superintendent of Highland schools, told the News Maibach was placed on a paid administrative leave during the investigation. When his teaching certificate expired, his contract was terminated.

In 2009, the Ohio Department of Education issued a Letter of Admonishment to Maibach after he admitted receiving an inappropriate picture from a female student and failed to bring it to the attention of the school administration during the 2006-07 school year.
