MOUNT VERNON — Wednesday’s meeting of the Knox County Educational Service Center board began with an executive session to discuss personnel matters, then proceeded with routine business.
Regarding personnel, the board accepted the resignation of the Alternative Center Bike Shop guru Bert McDonald, retroactively effective Feb. 17. It also approved a number of administrative contracts for supervisors and consultants, beginning with the 2011-12 school year, and issued several supplemental contracts for consultant duties performed outside the normal working hours. The board added to both the substitute teacher and teacher aide lists, and approved a maternity leave for itinerant preschool teacher Erin Kempton-Amoroso.
Routine fiscal actions were also approved. Treasurer Heather Darnold reported expenses somewhat exceeded revenues in February, and said that should turn around in the near future.
“We’re only purchasing what we absolutely need, not what we want,” she explained.
The board’s next meeting will take place during the annual board retreat April 20 at the Red Fox Inn. The meeting will start at 8:45 a.m.
