MOUNT VERNON — Five area Destination Imagination teams have been busy working after school to prepare for regional competition today at River Valley High School in Marion. Destination Imagination showcases students’ creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills.
One challenge this year is called the “Triple Take Road Show.” Teams must use three different storytelling methods to tell versions of the same story to three different pretend audiences. Teams must also portray how the storytellers travel to the different audience locations.
The DI Blackbelts, second- and third-graders from East Elementary, are taking the Triple Take Challenge. They have been working on variations to the classic story “The Little Red Hen.” Team members include Emma Buehrer, Elizabeth Clarkson, Sasha Deever, Ceci Ganz, Josephine Noonan, Grace Zoldak. Their team manager is Ted Buehrer.
Also accepting the Triple Take challenge is the Team With No Name from East Elementary. Their starting point was “The Boy Who Cried Wolf,” and their presentations include a drama, sock puppet show and story time. Team members are in grades four or five and include Ethan Buehrer, Aidan Clarkson, Camille Fitzsimmons, Mary Harris, Ashley Parsons, Conrad Stein, Noah Zoldak. The team manager is Steve Stein and Bobby Fitzsimmons serves as assistant manager.
