MOUNT VERNON — On Friday, Knox County Common Pleas Court Judge Otho Eyster handed down sentences in four felony cases, according to Knox County Prosecutor John Thatcher.
Darren J. Lang, 26, Mount Vernon, was convicted for breaking and entering and vandalism after breaking into and damaging an apartment manager’s office on Aug. 30, 2010. Lang was sentenced to an 11-month prison term and he was ordered to pay $638 in restitution to the victim. Detective Craig Feeney, Mount Vernon Police Department, investigated the case.
Austin L. Tatman, 18, Mount Vernon, was convicted of receiving stolen property for possessing a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and a 1994 Ford Ranger stolen from a local car dealership on Oct. 9, 2010. Tatman was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision including a 53-day jail sentence and a drug and alcohol assessment and monitoring. Tatman will serve a 17-month prison term if he violates any condition of his community control supervision. Thatcher said the Mount Vernon Police Department recovered both vehicles. Detective David McElroy investigated the case.
Joel E. Woods, 31, Mount Vernon, was convicted of theft of drugs for stealing Percocet pills from a Columbus Road resident on July 22. Woods was sentenced to a two-year term of community control supervision including a drug and alcohol assessment and monitoring. Woods will serve a 15-month prison term if he violates any condition of his community control supervision. Patrolman Jeremiah Armstrong, MVPD, investigated the case.
On March 12, 2010, Brittney N. Taylor, 22, Mount Vernon, was convicted of complicity in the commission of breaking and entering and corrupting a minor with drugs. Taylor was sentenced to a three-year term of community control supervision including a six-month commitment at the River City Community Corrections Center in Hamilton County. Taylor admitted Friday that she violated the terms of her community control supervision by failing to pay restitution to the crime victim and failing to report to her supervising officer. Taylor was sentenced to a 90-day jail sentence.
