MOUNT VERNON — Some relief is on the horizon for motorists dodging potholes on U.S. 36 east of Mount Vernon, according to Joe Rutherford, newly appointed deputy director of ODOT District 5.

Rutherford told the Knox County Board of Commissioners on Monday that U.S. 36 east is on this year’s resurfacing list. He said the resurfacing will go from the Mount Vernon city corporation limit east to the Coshocton County line. He anticipates a start date in mid-June, with a completion date in mid-October.

Rutherford said other scheduled projects include bridge maintenance on Ohio 3 north of Mount Vernon and a bridge replacement on Ohio 95 east of Fredericktown. He will meet further with the commissioners after the state’s official construction schedule is “rolled out” in mid-April.
