MOUNT VERNON — The city of Mount Vernon is reaching out to residents of the city’s west side in order to receive input on possible grant projects for the area. The city plans to apply for a $300,000 FY2011 CDBG Neighborhood Revitalization Grant in June and wants resident’s opinions on proposed projects or other ideas that would benefit the area.

“Citizen participation is an important part of the grant process,” said Whitaker Wright, a representative of CDC of Ohio which is assisting the city with gathering information from residents.

Guests of Wednesday’s Brown Bag Chat at the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County were asked to review a list of 10 proposed projects and provide input so that the city’s administration can start to prioritize the projects and add in other ideas.
