MOUNT VERNON — The Arrow of Light, the highest award in Cub Scouting, was presented Feb. 28 to Seth Lawhon, Max Chandler, Ryan Tarr and Marcus Brokaw. The Scouts are members of Pack 339, Mount Vernon.

The awards were presented by Ryan Rupp, Cubmaster, during a candlelight ceremony at Pleasant Street Elementary School to honor the Scouts and their achievement. In addition to the Arrow of Light rank patch for their uniforms, each Scout received an engraved plaque with a blue and gold wooden arrow to commemorate the occasion.

“The Scouts have had a great time hiking, camping, learning first aid, and earning the Webelos activity pins,” said Den Leader Sara Lawhon. “I hope they are even more successful in Boy Scouts.”

Following the ceremony, the four Scouts were welcomed into Boy Scout Troop 339 by Scoutmaster Bill Shriver.

Pack 339 and Troop 339 are chartered by First Presbyterian Church, Mount Vernon, and are part of the Muskingum Valley Council.
