BLADENSBURG — The Bladensburg Fire Department responded to a house fire at 25551 Hopewell Road on Saturday evening. The call came in at 7:05 p.m. Units from Utica and Danville arrived for mutual aid, and the blaze was under control in about 20 minutes, according to Bladensburg Fire Chief Dustin Baker.

The house is currently owned by Gaylord Rine, while residing in the house is renter Tammy Mailey and her grandson. Mailey reportedly was outside and heard a smoke alarm go off. “That was a big factor as far as timewise,” said Baker.
