MOUNT VERNON — Parents who have a child who will be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 and have not already called the school office should be sure to call to receive a kindergarten packet.

To expedite the registration process, bring the following items to kindergarten registration: Child’s birth certificate (official certified copy); child’s Social Security card; child’s immunization record; parents’ or legal guardian’s photo ID; custody papers, if applicable. In addition, parents are to bring their child. If parents have any questions, call Debi at the Mount Vernon administrative office at 397-7422, ext. 6000.

Mount Vernon City Schools kindergarten registration will take place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the following dates and at the following locations:

•Columbia — Today; 393-5975.

•Wiggin Street — Monday; call 427-4262.

• Pleasant Street — Tuesday; call 393-5990.

•Pleasant Street — Wednesday; call 393-5990.

•Dan Emmett — Thursday; call 393-5950.

NOTE: Students are asked to attend the makeup day Friday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Dan Emmett if unable to attend the scheduled date at their attendance area.
