Wednesday afternoon was a warm 62-degree April day so Shirley and Dennis Carrington sat in front of their home at 108 Miller Ave. and read the Mount Vernon News. They divide the paper; Shirley is an avid reader of the sports section. Sanctuary receives grant, new home

The “yellow” house in Danville is currently being renovated to house The Sanctuary. Rehabilitation of the house for needed space and handicap accessibility is possible through community donations and a grant from the Community Foundation of Mount Vernon and Knox County.  (Submitted photo)

National Cheerleading Champion

Malaya Sherman, 7, won first place at National Champion status at the American Cheer Power national cheerleading competitions at the Columbus Convention Center on April 2.
