MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Board of Commissioners met for individual sessions involving three separate issues Thursday afternoon.

Representing the Hilliar Township Trustees was Don McCracken, who was voicing the trustees’ opposition to the proposed creation of a Centerburg Township before an understanding is reached as to what financial help the Village of Centerburg is going to provide in maintaining the community park.

At a special meeting Jan. 31, it was decided that village solicitor Kyle Stroh and Knox County Assistant Prosecutor Chip McConville were to explore some options on this issue. McCracken was claiming that there has been no communication with the trustees and they were concerned when discovering the Village of Centerburg approved an ordinance on April 4 to become a township and reportedly were forwarding the ordinance on to the county commissioners for action.
