Soggy shredding

Knox County residents were eager to shred personal documents on Saturday during the Knox County Commissioner’s Shred It Day and did not let Saturday’s rain deter their mission. Pictured, from left, Don Eads of Howard, helps event workers Rex Naylor and James Rogers unload boxes of personal documents and VCR tapes he wanted shredded. Linda Montgomery, recycling coordinator for the county, estimated more than 300 cars brought in 5,000 to 6,000 pounds of material to be shredded, nearly double what was collected in 2010.   (Samantha Scoles)
