Cleaning up after a spill
Jerry Brown, a specialist with A&B Sanitation of Columbus, uses a vacuum to remove what the EPA said was bacteria from the small creek that runs through Greer along Jericho Road. The cleanup is a result of an oil leak Friday afternoon from a storage tank on the James Landoll farm. Jimmy Landoll, son of James Landoll, said Knox County Wildlife Officer Mike Miller told him their was no environmental damage along the stream. (Virgil Shipley)

Mock trial teams bring home seven awards
Danville Middle School sent two Mock Trial teams to competition on Thursday, and they both did well. Putting in a new culvert pipe
A Knox County Highway Department crew made quick work of putting in a new culvert pipe on Range Line Road, Monday morning. Backhoe driver Randy Harris drops gravel to fill over the pipe while Mike Smithhisler, left, and Jeff Durbin, foreman, far right, spread the gravel. The crew had the 30-inch hard plastic pipe covered by noon. It replaced a rusted galvanized steel pipe. (Virgil Shipley)
