CENTERBURG — The Red Plague has done it again — swept the competition and won the Buckeye Regional Robotics match, held this year on April 8-10.

Things weren’t looking too good for the Plague on the opening day, reported parent mentor Andy LeChard, but on Saturday the Red Plague moved up in the ratings. On Sunday, he said, Centerburg beat the top two seeded teams and won in sudden death, 112-109.

“I’m still not sure how it all happened, but we won it again,” said business and marketing mentor Janine Hebenthal. “Statistically, it has to be out of the park. It was down to the wire and we won the final match, 112-109. I think it was probably the highest scoring match of the competition by quite a bit. These kids have worked very hard and have accomplished something truly amazing. In our three years as a team we made it to the finals in our first year and have won the Buckeye Regional twice. That is an unbelievable accomplishment for a team of our size and resources.”
