MOUNT VERNON — City and county officials agreed to partner in an attempt to get an enhancement grant for work on the proposed bike trail.

At the commissioners’ office Thursday, Mount Vernon Mayor Richard Mavis and Safety-Service Director David Glass presented the idea of splitting the costs of a project that would rehabilitate the two old railroad bridges just east of the viaduct. The project would include work on the bridges, plus some other work involved with the improvement of land between the viaduct and McKenzie Street, on the south side of the Kokosing River. City officials and engineers estimate the project would cost just under $750,000.
