Residents react to death of bin Laden

Homer Fire Department personnel put out gates Sunday afternoon to stop the flow of oil from the car in the background. Near the car is Chuck Nicodemis, in the yellow vest, Capt. Tom King and Caleb Hauck. The crash was on Vance Road on the Licking County line. Trisha McDonald, 18, Mount Vernon is in serious condition in Ohio State University Hospital from injuries suffered when her car crashed in Vance Creek. She was taken to Columbus by the Homer Fire Department squad. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said she was eastbound on Vance Road about three-quarters of a mile west of Ohio 661 on the Licking County line. While rounding a long left-hand curve, her car drove off the left side of the road, skidded around backward on the grassy berm and rolled into Vance Creek. The crash is still under investigation.  (Virgil Shipley)

Best of Show

The 1933 Plymouth owned by Jerry Davies, right, took the best of show trophy at the 40th annual Dixie Classic car and truck show at the Knox County Fairgrounds on Sunday. Charles Woolison, Master of Ohio Lodge 199, presented the trophy to Davies of Newark. The Plymouth is highly customized with a V-8 engine. Davies rebuilt the car to its present style.  (Virgil Shipley)
