MOUNT GILEAD — The three-hour checkpoint Friday night on South Main Street netted one driver who was charged with driving under the influence. Heavy patrolling around the area resulted in the arrest of another driver for OVI, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Mount Vernon Police Department, Knox County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted the OVI checkpoint in an effort to deter drinking and driving. The checkpoint had 439 cars pass through with 409 checked.
