MOUNT VERNON — A vast collection of Jaguar vehicles is a hobby enjoyed by Dave Davison of Mount Vernon; however, some of his neighbors aren’t as excited about his hobby as he is.
Owner of CH Tool and Die on North Sandusky Street for the past 25 years, Davison stays busy in his spare time “fixing and playing with” his Jaguars.
“I’m a collector. I fix them up,” said Davison about his collection. While the number of cars on Davison’s lot has recently been adding up, he admits that he wishes he had more time to work on them.
“I would like to spend one or two days a week working on them, but lately I haven’t had any time,” said Davison. With most of the cars sitting on the lot, waiting to be worked on, Davison stated that he doesn’t sell vehicles very often.
While Davison keeps the Jaguars on his lot as a collection, some residents wonder if this may be a violation of zoning ordinances regarding junk vehicles.
“I don’t think they should start a junk yard,” said Ruth Sanor. “If other people had that there, they may be told to get rid of it.”
“I think it’s junky,” said Marilyn Beck. “It’s time (to clean it up). The lot’s nearly full.”
