MOUNT VERNON — A kickoff meeting to reveal plans for upcoming construction projects with the Ohio Department of Transportation took place Monday afternoon with the Knox County Board of Commissioners. Joe Rutherford, ODOT District 5 deputy director, shared a PowerPoint presentation outlining statistics and plans for the entire district, emphasizing those which will take place here in Knox County.

Motorists who frequently utilize U.S. 36 east of Mount Vernon to the Coshocton County line will feel an unease as paving will close one lane of traffic on the roadway for four months. The much needed project will begin at Upper Gilchrist Road. The project will close one lane of traffic at all times with the use of flaggers and will run from June 15 to Oct. 15. Kokosing Construction is the contractor for the project with a projected cost of $2,857,000.
