New sign for park

The newly fabricated arch to Chester Shock Park, on Coshocton Avenue at Park Street, went up Tuesday afternoon. The arch was made by the Metal Fabrication class at the Knox County Career Center. The pavilion and arch will be dedicated in a ceremony Friday at 1 p.m.  (Virgil Shipley)

Putting in a new line

Part of the work on South Main Street this week is running a new water line into the Central Ohio Technical College building. This machine cut a 6-inch opening into the 8-inch main line on South Main Street. Chris Glaub, an employee of Eagle Tapping Service of Newark, performs the operation.   (Virgil Shipley)

Lining the pipes

An ongoing city project of lining the Center Run interceptor with plastic tubing is continuing on a 30-inch line from East Gambier Street at Quarry Street south to Mount Vernon Avenue. It will then connect with the wastewater plant on Cougar Drive. Workers from Reynolds Inliner were putting the liner in place near Gambier and Quarry streets Tuesday. When this liner is in place, it will be flooded with 180-degree water to set. The whole project will take about two more months.  (Virgil Shipley)
