MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Christian Home School Association held its 2011 graduation ceremony on Friday at Lakeholm Church of the Nazarene.

Family and friends were greeted with a biographical photo essay featuring each soon-to-be graduate. Members of Cub Scout Pack and Boy Scout Troop 377 presented the colors, and Greg Woods welcomed guests and gave the invocation.

Following a tribute to home school graduates serving in the military, keynote speaker Steve Kistler took the audience, and the graduating class, on a simulated bear hunt. Kistler, minister at the New Life Church of Christ in Bellville, told the Class of 2011 that there are similarities between a bear hunt and life. Both seem a little bit dangerous, he said, are sometimes exhilarating, a tad scary and always an adventure.
