Park dedicated

Chester Shock Park was dedicated Friday afternoon in the presence of the men, women and students who worked to add upgrades to the city’s minipark. The three classes of students from the Knox County Career Center who contributed to the new pavilion as well as the new arch and fencing, along with members of the Mount Vernon Shade Tree Commission and Mayor Richard Mavis made the dedication in memory of Harold Shock, a former Shade Tree Commission member who spearheaded tree preservation in the city. The park is at the intersection of Coshocton Avenue, Division and Chestnut streets.  (Virgil Shipley)

New controller installed

Tom Hinkle, city traffic light technician, installs the new digital traffic light controller in a new cabinet at the corner of West High and Mulberry streets. It replaces a 50-year-old mechanical controller.  (Virgil Shipley)
