MOUNT VERNON — The American Red Cross of Knox County has been awarded two first-place awards recently at the Central Ohio Blood Region’s Annual Meeting in Columbus.

The first award, Outstanding Chapter honors the Knox County Chapter for its volunteer recruitment, number of blood donations, partnerships with community organizations and businesses to promote blood drives and develop new blood sites in the Knox County community. The second award, Excellence in Communication honored the chapter’s skill and ingenuity at communicating local blood drives through various media outlets including local newspapers, online sites, radio, television PSA’s, newsletters and the support of local businesses who allow flyers and posters to be on display for patrons.

“These awards are a reflection of the loyal volunteers, donors and partnerships that the Knox County Chapter truly treasures,” said Executive Director Kelly Brenneman. “We have always known how special Knox County is and now the rest of the Central Ohio Blood Region is aware of it, too!”
