MOUNT VERNON — For the second time in two years, Kathy Luna has had a vehicle destroyed by a drunk driver. The second time took place Tuesday evening in front of her home at 83 Columbus Road. Luna told the News she was in her home and distinctly heard the crash into her 2000 Pontiac Bonneville.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said Grant Zody, 38, Howard, was northbound on Columbus Road when his Ford F-150 pickup drifted to the right and hit the Pontiac knocking it 30 feet along the curb. The left rear was heavily damage.

The left front wheel and four-wheel drive axle were ripped off of Zody’s pickup. The vehicle then continued on and off the right side of the street coming to rest near the porch steps at 81 Columbus Road.

Investigating Trooper Todd Carpenter charged Zody with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, failure to control, no driver’s license and drug possession.
