MOUNT VERNON — The second straight weekend of beautiful spring weather brought a large crowd out to the Mount Vernon Farmers Market on Saturday morning.

Shoppers were out perusing the sidewalks, seeing what kind of local goods were available for sale. The variety of fares included plants, flowers, baked goods, cheeses, dips and sauces, jams and jellies, maple syrup and even some unique items including some peanut butter and banana dog biscuits.

Tim Koppert had his display of flavored dips and sauces available. “I’m here every week as much as I can,” said Koppert. “There is a normal group that’s here each week; others come and go.”

Regulars at the Farmers Market, Marian and Randy Douglas, bring a variety of flowers, perennials, herbs and vegetables for sale. “We’re here every week. It hasn’t been too bad this week,” said Marian. “Some weeks are better.”
