MOUNT VERNON — The Knox County Career Center will have a new principal effective June 17. The KCCC Board of Education on Thursday granted the retirement request of Mike Warbel, principal of student services, and subsequently reassigned John Feltman, career-based intervention instructor/coordinator, to fill that post. The board also approved the retirement of technology coordinator Jenny Zolman, effective June 2. Warbel has served the KCCC since 2002 and Zolman since 2005.

Adult education was in the spotlight for much of the meeting. Shawn Kendall reported on the computerized Office Technologies program, and the board approved a 36-hour volunteer firefighter program and a firefighter transition program. Also concerning adult education, the board approved the massage therapy handbooks as well as massage therapy program costs [to begin with the 2011-12 school year].
