BLADENSBURG — The East Knox Board of Education approved several items at the recommendation of Superintendent Matt Caputo on Monday night including a step freeze for non-union employees.

District employees not subject to a collective bargaining agreement will not receive any step increment increases for the 2011-12 school year.

The board also approved a lunch charge policy; summer school for Aug. 1-12; an overnight FCCLA trip to California in July; the sale of two used mini buses for $1,600; to advertise for bids for one 71-passenger bus through permanent improvement funds; to upgrade the high school auditorium sound system for $7,888 with permanent improvement funds; high school handbooks as presented; membership with the Ohio High School Athletic Association; school fees for grades K-12 at $40 per pupil; institute a pay-to-participate fee of $100 for the flag corp, majorettes and band; and the purchase of laptops, laptop cart and laser etching services for $16,924 from the 21st Century Grant program.
